Two new albums in my ears this last week:

Robbie Williams – Reality Killed the Radio Star. Nice to have him back but it’s a bit bland.
Norah Jones – The Fall. Awesome. Her voice is as beautiful as she is and I quite like the drift away from her previous jazz / blues outings.

Chores and Podcasts…

August Bank Holiday weekend. I have a list of chores (that I created for myself by the way!) including cleaning the outside of the conservatory, pruning the Silver Birches in the back garden and, following several attempts to record an introductory narrative for Jon Armstrong’s “If You’re Just Joining us”, research for a new microphone for the PC.

Having said all that, I don’t mind chores as they can be done with Ear Buds firmly inserted! I’ve been listening to mostly music for the last couple of weeks so I was a little behind with my Podcasts. Here is the glorious playlist that I worked my way through:

All good stuff (or it wouldn’t be on my iPod in the first place) but of particular note are (a) Shinkei – a great story well performed and (b) hearing Doug Rapson get to 200 episodes. If you haven’t heard Geek Acres yet – you should. Great information presented in an enjoyable way by a genial and approachable host – marvellous! Well done Doug.

Not much earbud action today. I have spent too much time in the company of other human beings that demand my complete attention (or at least that I don’t have even one earbud in when they’re talking to me!)

Managed to bore my sister though (!) by playing the following down the phone to her:

Spent the evening browsing for, choosing and ordering some cider making equipment with “Lie To Me” on the TV so no music or Podcasts.

Day 1

Decided that I want to keep a record of everything that I listen to on my lovely, lovely (!) iPods and iPhone.

Started the day by listening to the first episode of Cory Doctorow’s “Eastern Standard Tribe” on my walk from the station to the office. Cory has an unusual writing (and therefore verbal) style but one that I like and so I am looking forward to listening to the remaining episodes.

Blocked out some background noise in the office by listening to Empire of the Sun’s “Walking on a Dream” album. I particularly like Track 3 – “Half Mast”.

More “Eastern Standard Tribe” on the walk back to the station.

Went for a run to “Bounce Mania” and I quote – “The Bounciest Clubland Anthems”! BPM was a bit higher than usual (about 130) – did myself a mischief!

Rounded off the evening with Episode #198 of Doug Rapson’s excellent “Geek Acres” Podcast, the “Radio 1 Chart Show” Podcast and Round #5 of “Title Fight” by Scott Sigler and Matt Wallace.

Then (a) downloaded Audacity 1.3 (Beta) as I think I’ll probably have a bash at a Podcast sometime (?!) so need to started practicing now and (b) created this WordPress BLOG to keep track of everything.

I shall now, as usual, go to sleep listening to Imelda May’s outstanding “Love Tattoo” album.
